Over 30 students in kula kamaliʻi (preschool) to papa malaaʻo (kindergarten) participated in a memorization competition and song competition. In the memorization category, students were given an excerpt from the Hawaiian language newspaper, Ka Oiaio, dated on September 14th, 1894.
